Should a live commerce platform build or buy break verification?

Partner, rather than build. A platform can build the technology, but it cannot make itself independent — and a record published by the marketplace that hosted the sale carries less weight than the same record from a party with no stake in it.

This is structural rather than a comment on anyone's honesty. It would be equally true of any platform in any category. A verified break record from the seller's own systems is a marketing claim; the same record from a third party is evidence. Identical data, identical accuracy, entirely different weight to a buyer, a support team, a regulator or a court.
